Khloud Popcorn Review: Is It Healthy? A Dietitian’s Take
Quick summary
Popcorn is already a pretty solid snack, so when I first heard about Khloud Popcorn, I was curious about what made it different. With 7 grams of protein per serving and several fun flavors to choose from, Khloud definitely stands out in the snack aisle and puts a protein-packed spin on the classic crunchy favorite.
But does adding protein actually make popcorn better? I put three flavors to the test, including White Cheddar, Truffle and White Cheddar, and Sweet and Salty Kettle Corn, to see how they tasted and whether they lived up to the hype.
In this Khloud Popcorn review, I’m sharing my honest take on the flavor and texture, along with a dietitian’s look at the nutrition. I’ll also compare Khloud with regular air-popped and microwave popcorn to see how its protein-packed formula actually stacks up.

What is Khloud Popcorn?
Khloud is a protein-packed popcorn brand created by Khloé Kardashian and Emma Grede. Unlike regular popcorn, which is a relatively low-protein snack, Khloud adds dairy protein to the mix to provide 7 grams of protein per serving.
Khloud Popcorn is made with whole-grain corn and comes in several sweet and salty flavors, including:
- Olive Oil and Sea Salt
- White Cheddar
- Sweet and Salty Kettle Corn
- Cinnamon Roll
- Truffle and White Cheddar
- Birthday Cake
- Jalapeño Queso
Depending on the flavor, each serving contains about 150-160 calories and 1-3 grams of fiber, along with 7 grams of protein.
The extra protein comes from milk protein, which provides all nine essential amino acids. Khloud is also marketed as gluten-free and made without seed oils.
Khloud Popcorn nutrition at a glance
Khloud provides 7 grams of protein per serving across all all flavors, but the rest of the nutrition varies a bit by flavor. Here’s a closer look at how three of its most popular varieties compare.

Khloud Popcorn ingredients
Khloud Popcorn starts with a relatively straightforward base of popcorn, oil, milk protein, and seasonings. Here’s a closer look at a few of the main ingredients it contains.
Milk protein
Khloud uses milk protein concentrate to boost the amount of protein in its popcorn. Milk protein contains both casein and whey proteins and provides all nine essential amino acids, making it a high-quality source of protein.
However, the milk protein is also worth noting if you have a milk allergy or avoid dairy. Khloud is not a dairy-free popcorn, even though other varieties of popcorn usually are.
Flavoring ingredients
Depending on the variety, Khloud also contains additional ingredients to create its different flavors, including:
- cheese and dairy ingredients in certain flavors
- natural flavors and seasonings
- olive oil or coconut oil, depending on the variety
- sea salt
Some varieties also contain added sugar. The Sweet and Salty Kettle Corn flavor, for example, contains 5 grams of added sugar per serving, while the Birthday Cake and Cinnamon Roll flavors each provide 6 grams.

Is Khloud Popcorn healthy?
Khloud Popcorn can be a nutritious snack, especially if you’re looking for a convenient way to add a little extra protein to your diet. Each serving provides 7 grams of protein along with 1 to 3 grams of fiber, depending on the variety, all for about 150 to 160 calories.
That said, I wouldn’t consider Khloud dramatically more nutritious than all other popcorn simply because it contains added protein.
Popcorn itself is a whole grain and can be a nutritious snack on its own. Khloud’s main advantage is that it combines the crunch and convenience of popcorn with a moderate amount of protein, which can make it a more filling option for some people.
It’s also worth looking beyond the protein number. The different varieties contain varying amounts of fiber, saturated fat, sodium, and added sugar. For example, the Sweet and Salty Kettle Corn has 5 grams of added sugar and 4 grams of saturated fat per serving, while the Olive Oil and Sea Salt variety has 3 grams of fiber and no added sugar.
Ultimately, Khloud can be a solid snack choice, but you don’t need protein popcorn to have a nutritious diet. That said, if you like the taste and want a little extra protein from your snack, Khloud can be a convenient option.
Is Khloud Popcorn good for weight loss?
Trying to lose weight doesn’t mean you have to give up snacks, and Khloud Popcorn can absolutely fit into a weight loss-friendly eating pattern. But despite all the protein hype, there’s nothing inherently magical about this popcorn when it comes to losing weight.
What I do like about Khloud from a nutrition perspective is that it gives you 7 grams of protein per serving along with up to 3 grams of fiber, all for about 150 to 160 calories. That combination can make for a more satisfying snack than a typical handful of chips or crackers, particularly if you’re someone who gets hungry again 20 minutes after snacking.
That said, while 7 grams of protein is helpful, it’s not a huge amount by any means. If you’re especially hungry, try pairing Khloud with another protein-rich food, such as Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, or a hard-boiled egg, to turn it into a more filling snack.
And don’t let the tiny serving size on the bag fool you. A serving is just 30 grams, so if you’re mindlessly munching straight from the bag, you might easily eat multiple servings without even realizing it.
At the end of the day, Khloud can be a tasty, satisfying snack if you’re trying to lose weight, but it isn’t a quick-fix for weight loss. Its protein and fiber are nice perks, but your overall eating pattern matters much more than whether or not your popcorn happens to have 7 grams of protein.

My honest review
For this Khloud Popcorn review, I tried three popular flavors from Khloud, including:
- White Cheddar
- Truffle and White Cheddar
- Sweet and Salty Kettle Corn
I was most excited to try the White Cheddar because I’m a sucker for cheesy popcorn. Unfortunately, it ended up being my least favorite. It wasn’t bad, but it had a noticeable milky flavor that I wasn’t expecting from a popcorn snack.
The Truffle and White Cheddar was actually my favorite, which surprised me. The truffle flavor was interesting but not overpowering, and I thought the truffle and cheddar combination worked really well.
The Sweet and Salty Kettle Corn was also enjoyable and had a nice sweet-and-salty balance.
The biggest drawback across all three, though, was the texture, because they were really powdery. There was quite a bit of seasoning residue left on my fingers after eating them, which made them less convenient to snack on while working or doing something else. I felt like I needed to wipe my hands after every few bites, rather than being able to casually grab a handful and keep going.
In fairness, that could actually be a positive because it forces more mindful snacking. After all, you can’t exactly shovel handful after handful into your mouth while you’re typing. But personally, I didn’t love having to stop and wipe my fingers after every few bites.
Overall, I enjoyed the flavors, but I can’t say I found Khloud noticeably more filling than regular popcorn despite the added protein.
I think Khloud is a fun option if you’re specifically looking for a higher-protein popcorn, but for me, the extra protein wasn’t enough to outweigh the taste and texture differences I noticed.
Would I try it again?
Even though I enjoyed trying Khloud Popcorn and liked some of the flavors, I probably wouldn’t buy it again. I didn’t find Khloud noticeably more filling than regular popcorn, and the powdery texture was also a bit of a dealbreaker for me, especially since I’m a multitasker and tend to snack while I’m working or scrolling on my phone.
That said, I can see the appeal if you’re specifically looking for a convenient way to get a little extra protein from your snack. For me, though, I’ll probably stick with regular popcorn and get my protein elsewhere.

Who should try Khloud Popcorn?
Khloud might be worth a try if you love popcorn and want a little extra protein in your snack without reaching for a protein bar or shake.
With 7 grams of protein per serving, it can be an easy option for people who are looking for more protein throughout the day but still want something crunchy and snackable.
I think Khloud Popcorn would be an especially good fit for:
- those who want a convenient, ready-to-eat snack
- people who enjoy flavored popcorn and want something a little different
- individuals looking for a snack with a combination of protein and fiber
- people who like the idea of high-protein popcorn and don’t want another sweet protein snack
On the other hand, you probably don’t need Khloud specifically if you already get plenty of protein from your meals and snacks. Regular popcorn is still a nutritious snack, and you can always pair it with a protein-rich food if you want more staying power.
And if you’re sensitive to dairy or follow a vegan diet, Khloud isn’t the popcorn for you since it contains milk protein.
Pros and cons
Khloud has a few things going for it, especially if you’re looking for a popcorn snack with a little more protein. But like any packaged snack, it also has a few potential drawbacks worth considering before you add it to your cart.
Pros:
- 7 grams of protein per serving: Khloud offers a solid amount of protein for a popcorn snack, making it a convenient way to add a little extra protein to your day.
- Up to 3 grams of fiber: Depending on the flavor, Khloud provides 1-3 grams of fiber per serving.
- Reasonable calorie content: Each serving contains about 150-160 calories.
- Fun flavor options: The flavors offer something a little different from your standard popcorn, with Truffle and White Cheddar being my personal favorite.
- Convenient snack: It’s ready to eat straight from the bag, making it an easy grab-and-go option.
Cons:
- Very powdery: The seasoning leaves quite a bit of residue on your fingers, which can make it messy to eat while working or multitasking.
- Mixed taste reviews: Some people enjoy the flavor of Khloud Popcorn, while others find the taste less appealing.
- Not noticeably more filling: Despite the extra protein, I didn’t find Khloud to be more satisfying than regular popcorn.
- Some flavors contain added sugar: Certain varieties contain up to 6 grams of added sugar per serving.
- Contains dairy: Khloud uses milk protein, so it’s not suitable for people avoiding dairy.
- Some people may prefer regular popcorn: While Khloud offers the added benefit of protein, some people may prefer the taste and texture of regular popcorn.
Khloud Popcorn vs. regular popcorn
So, is Khloud actually better than regular popcorn? It really comes down to what you’re looking for.
The biggest difference is the protein: Khloud provides 7 grams of protein per serving, whereas regular popcorn contains much less. Microwave popcorn can also differ nutritionally because it’s typically prepared with added oils and other ingredients.
Here’s how Khloud compares with similar 30-gram servings of air-popped and microwave popcorn:
| Khloud Popcorn | Air-popped popcorn | Microwave popcorn | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Protein | 7g per serving | 3.6g per serving | 2.7g per serving |
| Fiber | 1-3g per serving | 4g per serving | 3g per serving |
| Calories | 150-160 per serving | 110 | 155 |
| Added sugar | 0-6g, depending on flavor | 0g | 0g |
| Dairy-free | no | yes | sometimes, but not usually |
| Convenience | ready to eat | requires more preparation | requires microwaving |
| Nutrition notes | more protein | lower-calorie, higher-fiber whole-grain snack | more calories and fat from added oil |

Conclusion
Khloud Popcorn is a fun twist on a classic snack, with 7 grams of protein packed into each serving.
While the flavors are enjoyable and the added protein is a nice perk, the powdery texture and mixed taste reviews may not make it a must-buy for everyone.
From a nutrition perspective, Khloud can absolutely fit into a balanced diet, but regular popcorn is still a nutritious choice too.
Therefore, whether or not Khloud is worth trying ultimately comes down to whether you want the extra protein and like the flavor.
