About me

Hi there! I’m Rachael, a registered dietitian based in sunny Sacramento, where I live with my husband, our tiny tornado of a toddler, and two spunky Boston terrier pups.

My love for food started early; growing up with a military dad meant moving across the ocean and back, tasting everything from hearty German bratwurst to comforting Southern classics along the way.

That early exposure to diverse flavors sparked a lifelong curiosity about how food shapes our health, our culture, and our daily lives.

I started Nutrimental back in 2015.

At the time, I was a brand-new dietitian and absolutely loved food — but could also barely boil water.

Starting a blog (and snapping photos of whatever I managed to make) pushed me to get creative, experiment more, and actually figure out my way around the kitchen.

Somewhere along the way, I fell in love with cooking, and even more with sharing my creations.

These days, I channel that same curiosity into writing about nutrition and helping people around the world build healthy habits and enjoy more nourishing foods.

My nutrition philosophy is pretty simple: eating healthy shouldn’t be complicated (or boring!).

Throughout my website, you’ll find flavorful recipes and practical nutrition tips to help make following a balanced diet feel fun, easy, and sustainable.

Nutrimental comes from the word “nutriment,” aka the nourishing substances in food that sustain life. It reflects my belief that nutrition is all about helping you feel nourished and supported through the foods you eat.
